"Inspector" #5 Founders Collection

Blaze Borne

Founders Collection:

Original, one-of-a-kind pieces
     -Limited series
-From a single event in time

     -Beauty from the Chaos
     -Tranquility from the Drama
     -Whimsy from the Solemn

Two sculptors.
-The first, Nature, (forces of fire, gravity, crush, happenstance, and irony.)
-The second,  revealing the artistry of the first.

The Founders Collection adheres to an ethos the nature of the pieces virtually demands:
-No item in the founder’s collection has had parts added.
-Nothing carved away beyond selective particle blasting of
metal oxide, cinders, etc., and the gentle shaping and
selective polishing required to reveal the work.
-Portions breaking away in processing not replaced.
-Pieces in Founders Collection created exclusively from
             a
single event and represent a naturally limited collection.
-No pieces can be created that were not originally curated,
and specially marked to indicate this.

-All proceeds directly applied to restoring what the fire
               itself took away.

-The Founders Collection refers to the founding of the first art sales of a long-time private sculptor.  It also refers to the founders of the new structure/business in Gearhart, OR that these pieces will support.  Lastly, each piece in this collection was borne forth by Nature’s Foundry.

The Inspiration for the Founders Collection

With a plan of renovation into a yoga studio and coffee shop, the property at 2974 Hwy 101, Gearhart, Oregon was purchased. The street shop and warehouse were filled had been closed up for 30 years. The street shop housed many antiques and the warehouse held antiques, sporting goods, householdand industrial items, and 4 vehicles (MG’s and Mercedes).  Clean up had begun.

However, overnight July 31, 2022 the warehouse caught fire.  Firefighters battled the inferno for hours.  The roof quickly gave way, followed by walls. The highway was closed down.   Firefighters could do nothing but contain the warehouse blaze.  The street shop caught fire but firefighters were able to control it and put it out with minimal damage.

In the aftermath of debris, rubble, twisted metal and burned out cars, the real clean-up began.  But from that crucible emerged remarkable pieces sculpted and buried by the blaze.

These pieces repeatedly caught the sculptor’s eye.  They were curated, treated, and revealed through sand blasting and polish.  Together, they represent the Founder’s Collection.
